Lausanne Learning Institute, February 2017

In February 2017, we presented a workshop, together with a local maker educator named Laura Cole, called “How to Build a Maker Lesson” at the Lausanne Learning Institute in Arlington, Texas. In this presentation we focused on unpacking how Laura used the SMU Maker Education Project’s pedagogical frameworks to coach a teacher at her school (Good Shepherd Episcopal School). Laura helped this teacher develop a maker-based approach to teach content that she would normally have taught using a more traditional approach. The focus of this particular lesson was on diagramming sentences.
