CityLab High School, Summer 2017
In the summer of 2017, we facilitated a two-day workshop with the new staff of CityLab High School, an architecture- and design-focused school that opened this fall. During our time together we shared our definitions of Maker-Based Instruction as well as our pedagogical frameworks and instructional strategies. We also facilitated several Maker Sprints focused on 3-D sketching and modeling with the web-based software TinkerCAD. In August of 2017 we facilitated a workshop during the CityLab Freshman Orientation at the Dallas J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. Students were introduced to the concept of prototyping and practiced rapid prototyping skills in a one-hour sprint. Students also toured the MakerTruck parked outside the library.
